In the fourth quarter of 2020, Latin America's social networking scene saw interesting shifts in app performance. Data from Sensor Tower reveals the trends in downloads, revenue, and active users for the top five applications in this category.

Facebook, the behemoth of social media platforms, witnessed a decrease in downloads from 2.9M in the first week of October to 1.8M by the end of December. Meanwhile, its weekly active users remained relatively stable, hovering around the 346M to 349M range throughout the quarter. Revenue peaked in mid-December at $179K, suggesting a strong end-of-year performance.

Reports+ for Instagram saw a consistent number of downloads, ranging between 24K and 29K throughout the quarter. Active users, however, experienced a decline from 691K to 420K. Revenue remained somewhat steady, with a slight dip to $38K at the end of December from the $44K highs seen earlier in the quarter.

BIGO LIVE-Live Stream, Go Live also showed a downward trend in downloads, decreasing from 245K in the first week of October to 182K in the last week of December. However, weekly active users saw an uptick towards the end of the quarter, reaching 1.67M from a low of 1.52M in November. Revenue for the app experienced fluctuations but ended the quarter at a lower $76K compared to $114K at the start of Q4.

Grindr - Gay Dating & Chat maintained a relatively steady number of downloads, with a slight increase to 69K in the final week of December from around 59K at the beginning of the quarter. The app's weekly active users saw a gradual increase, ending the year at 2.51M from the initial 2.36M. Revenue also showed growth, culminating in $63K in the last week of December.

F Circle - Location Finder had a varied quarter with downloads peaking at 40K in the last week of December, significantly higher than the 17K at the start of Q4. Active users rose towards the end of the quarter, reaching 88K from an initial count of 65K. Revenue saw a small but steady increase, ending at $27K in December.
